GLINHAM & LEATON of Uppingham
« on: Sunday 25 January 09 00:09 GMT (UK) »
Is anyone researching the GLINHAM / GLENHAM or LEATON / SEATON families of Uppingham? I am trying to trace the family of an Emma LEATON who appears on the 1841 census for Uppingham aged 15 born in county. She is with a Mary GLINHAM born circa 1771 (not born in county).  Mary GLINHAM may possibly be the wife of a Robert GLENHAM who had three daus baptised in Uppingham between 1801 and 1805. The surnames GLENHAM and LEATON (sometimes as SEATON) come down as  christian names in my BAGGE family who appear in Fulham, London in the 1880's. I have checked the IGI but cannot see anything which will give me a real lead. Any help would be much appreciated as I am stuck at the moment and don't know what else to do. Thank you.

Hi Piggywig

there is a burial in Uppingham in 1838 9th Aug

The NBI has it as Christopher Seaton (aged 34) - Free BMD has it as Christopher Leaton.  it would tie in with this baptism from the IGI

CHRISTOPHER LEATON  Birth:
Christening:  28 SEP 1803   Uppingham, Rutland,
Father:  WILLIAM LEATON
  Mother:  MARY
