Hi Mandy,

What a pity - were they alive after the 1911 Census?  Maybe they have filled in the form with a bit more detail.....

Hi Viv,

Philip died in 1907, I have a copy of his death certificate, which names the informant of death as his widow, Mary Young.

I have had a look at the sample of the 1911 census but unforatunately Glamorgan isn't on there yet.

Hi Mandy,

I have the same problem with most of my ancestors - the Census transcriptions are not available yet!

Looks like we have to very patient.

Hi

I have found more  information -

Anna Marie's parents were Franz and Theresia Hoffellt.

The family were from Volkmarsen in Hesse.

They were passengers on the "Peter Godeffroy" which left Hamburg on 30 Sept 1858 and arrived at East London on 19 Jan 1859.  They initially settled at Keiskamma Hoek, South Africa.

They had four children : Philipp; Maria; Adolph; Regina.

Any information anyone can add will be graetfully received.

Regards

Mandy

There was a James Hoffeld who came to America about 1858 from Volkmarsen, and Richard Hoffeld and Charlotte Michaels came to America by way of England (I believe) around 1881 from a place called Volkmarsen by Kassel.  Lydia Hoffeld was 90 years old in 1988, my oldest living relative in the States; she gave me most of the info I have.
