OK - thanks Daughter is Matilda Randell, aged 28 - married on July 6 1862 to Samuel Parsons, aged 27 at the Parish Church Chertsey. Father, the Preventive Service man is Robert Randell.

Matilda born in Bristol - got that from 1911 census

Can't seem to find any more about the Randells prior to this 1862 marriage

In 1861 it looks as if Matilda is in service at 19 Parade Road, St Helier, Jersey,

transcribed as Randall, age 25 born Bristol.

Head of household is Philippe Lesueur.

May have found family in 1841 in Portsea, Portsmouth, Hampshire

50 Cumberland Street.

Robert RANDALL/35/ Diaper Sh? - back to the occupation question!
Matilda/30
Robert/9
Matilda/7
Emma/3
Maryann/1

Class: HO107; Piece 415; Book: 3; Civil Parish: Portsea Town; County: Hampshire; Enumeration District: 14; Folio: 77; Page: 13

Doesn't quite fit with Bristol birthplace for Matilda though.

Pinetree,

You know how they say occupations runs in families  ;D,well I don't think your Robert Randall is a diaper anything, but more likely a DRAPER  8) and possibly the Sh means working is a shop?

Not that is tells us anything more about the customs chap !
