Sorry I forgot to say I also saw the name Lily Pearce. I can find no one by this name so as it is crossed out it must have been a mistake on the record.

The name being crossed out could mean that there was a change in next of kin because he got married after the form had originally be filled out.

Do you have an age and occupation for Albert Robinson and age for Mary Elizabeth? I saw a possible passenger list entry for them but the couple in the entry may be too young to be yours.

Could this be the father that William Wright was trying to see in Buffalo?

1910 Census

Buffalo, NY, John Wright, b. abt. 1852 in England.  But he supposedly immigrated to the US in 1874 and has been married 38 years and has 4 children also a cousin living with him [Walter Watts].

Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, April 1913

Wright, William G. H., 16, single, no occupation, nationality English, race English,

nearest relative in Canada his aunt, Mrs. Emily Eagan, 25 [could be 23 or 28] Monterey?, Toronto, Ontario.

It looks like he was travelling alone.  His final destination was Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.  Last permanent residence, Toronto.

I like the note on his crossing...

Claims he fell asleep in box car and when he woke up he was on this side of the river

Jacquie,

Can you beleive you may be right. I have just come across a Lillian Lowery b.1896 in Middlesbrough. This could be Lily? I will look into it further. But also found a death for a lillian in Middlesbrough 1902.

This is what I have so far in regards to Wm.Parents.
Albert Thomas Wright b.1871 married Mary Elizabeth Lowery b.1876 on 22.June 1895.
William born 1897.
1901 Census. Mary and son William are living with her parents Benjamin and Elizabeth Graham Lowery. Mary is a Widow. I have not been able to find a death for Albert, Thomas Wright.
1901 May 11. Mary Elizabeth married Albert Edward Robinson, Marine Engine Fitter aged 25. Mary was a Widow and Albert was a Bachelor.

KarenM,
Thanks for the attestation papers. Very interesting.
Also I love the note on the crossing. This was a real boy-o!

Erato,

As I have mentioned his biological Father was dead. The Wright name is so very common and it is only the factt hat William had three christian names that helps. I have found Albert Thomas Wright
his Father and his relatives in Tirley, Gloucestershire, England, on the 1881 census. But no one called John.

Thank you all once again. I have found out more information in the last 24hrs. than I have found in the last ten yrs. In all I have been seraching since 1973.

AandE

There is an Ancestry tree that has William George Henry Wright.  In brief, it says that he was born 24 Oct. 1897 in Loftus, Yorkshire, son of Albert Thomas Wright (1871-1901) and Mary Elizabeth Lowery (b. 1875).  According to this tree, he married Annie May Price (1896-1972) on 25 May 1918 and had one daughter, Agnes (b. 1919).  And that he died about 1918-19.

So maybe the story about a father named John Wright in Buffalo was just invented in an effort to accomplish the border crossing.

I see Elizabeth Graham Lowery died March 3, 1932 in Toronto, Ontario.  She is buried at Prospect Cemetery.  I wonder if there is an obituary for her and perhaps mentions William Wright as a surviving grandson  ???

Do you have the death information?  If not I will post the particulars.
