Hi all

I have just come across this message. I am currently doing my friends tree for her and her part of her line runs back to Joel and Dinah ( Barlow) Wickens through their son William who married Ann Pither in Monk Sherborne in 1830

I am interested in what happened to Joel and see that some of the posters have indicated that he went to Canada. I would be very grateful for any information which you are prepared to share on this part of the tree so that I can pass it on to her

Many thanks
Jackie  :D

HI JMP, Not sure what info you still require. Most of what I have has been documented on this site, but let me know what you need or send me a note and I will see what I can do. I would be interested in confirming if you have gone back beyond William Wickens and Sarah?? or James Barlow and Mary Aikens?

I am so very confused.
Trying to locate, the right Wickens Family Lineage.
Everytime, I think I have it. I find a kink.
Such as, I found records for a William and Sarah Wickens that included baptisms in Paulerspury for 8 Children. Possibly one set of twins.
Sarah and Elizabeth, daughters of William and Sarah July 14, 1705
Judith, daughter of William and Sarah May 11, 1707
Ann, daughter of William and Sarah June 25, 1710
John, son of William and Sarah July 26, 1713
Mary, daughter of William and Sarah Sept 2d or 20, 1716
James, son of William and Sarah Feb 20, 1718
William, son of William and Sarah Sept 13, 1722

I found marriage record for William Wickens and Sarah Gibbins for October 2nd 1704; which would correspond with all those births.

A William born in 1722, Married to a Sarah (no last name) has been connected to my family as the father of Joel born 1785 died 1848.

Joel is married to a Dinah Wickens (Barlow) ***James Barlow and Mary Adkins, Adkincs as the parents of many children Joel 1806-1895, William 1808-?, Mark 1811-1903, Stephen Wickens 1812-1883, Sarah 1814-? Elisa 1816-1904, Jane 1819-? Elizabeth 1821-1914, Thomas 1823-1919, Richard 1826-1907, Mary 1829-?,   **** Harriet 1841-1914 and James 1847-?*****both born to Rosalie.

Stephen Wickens 1812-1883 married Rebecca Wickens (Cooke, Cook) were the parents of so many George 1842, James 1844, Dinah 1846-1881, Thomas 1847-1887, Jane (Jennie) 1850-1927, Elizabeth 1852-?, William R. 1855-1913, Mary 1857-1900, and Rebecca 1859-1936.

William R. married Elizabeth Wickens (Weisbecker) 1862-1943. They in turn only 5 kids. :) As my Aunt says, We are decreasing the population, at this point. Giggles. Clarence 1885-?, Thirza 1887-1963, Chester 1889-1948, Clement F. 1894-1948, Marguerite Rebecca 1895-1985.

Clement F. married Agnes Wickens (Merritt) 1894-1973. They had William Julius Wickens 1921-1986 and Benjamin Wickens 1923-1965.

Benjamin married Kathryn Wickens (Richardson) 1922-1953
they had Thomas died young, Girl baby, J D. Wickens 1940's - present and C Wickens 1940's-present.

J married D and they had me and my two sisters.

Are we dealing with the same family?

Seems right Jackie. Your ancestor Stephen Wickens (1812 - 1883) was brother to my ancestor Richard Wickens (1826 - 1907) A few of the older siblings stayed in England. I wasn't sure if Stephen came over to Canada in 1836 with the family or later, do you know? Also do you know when Dinah died? It seems to be in 1836 but can't find any record of it either in England or Canada so I wondered if she had died at sea on the way over?

Hello, I am back. Took a year or so off. So confusing. I just canceled my Myheritage.com account, being that I could not locate any real documents. If anyone is working on the Wickens Family, please make contact with me. I am a direct descendent of Stephen Wickens b. Nov 1 1812 in Hampshire, England d. Jan 12 1883 in Clifford Village, Ontario. He and Rebecca (Cooke) were the parents of:

George b. 1842 nr Ottawa
James b. 1844 No record, what so ever, apparently
Dianah b. 1846 nr Ottawa
Thomas b 1849 Again, No record what so ever
Jane b. 1850 nr Ottawa (Married Jennings and moved to Barberton Ohio 1871
Elizabeth b. 1852 nr Ottawa
William R. b. 1855 Clifford Village, Ontario. My Great Great Granddad Died 1913 Albion, Michigan_ he and Elizabeth paid for our family plots. They are the parents of Clement F. Wickens born in North Dakota, died in Albion, Michigan...***not William C. Wickens and Some Anne. which some sites have attached to his grave***
Mary Ann b. 1857 South Hampton, Bruce (Married Dustow)
Rebecca b. 1859 (married Ward)

Please, if you are working on any of these branches and have valid information that can and will help me sort out the hot mess I ran into on Ancestry.com, please contact me.

Thank you, very much, Christina (Wickens) Edwards
