Chate
« on: Thursday 19 February 09 17:30 GMT (UK) »
I have been successful in locating my Abraham Chate from Deptford to Sussex England, he was baptized in Cuckfield Sept 20 1678 son of John Chate and Martha Jackson, now I am trying to find his marriage to  Ann Rose? or Nanette Rose? or soudex around 1692 or so. they were in Deptford  in 1695 and 1696 where two of their sons were born one being my line Abraham .I cannot find their death either so far.
Just hoping someone happens to come across them somewhere.
Thank you.

Allien,

The Sussex Marriage Index isn't much help.

There's no Abraham CHATE / CHAT / CHATES / CHEAT in the SMI for any year, and no male of those surnames with any given name marrying an Ann / Nan / Nanette Rose in any year.

If Abraham was baptised soon after birth then a marriage in 1692 was very early for him - he would have been more of a marriageable age around the years you give for him in Deptford.  Are you sure of his sons' years of birth?  What makes you think he married in Sussex so early?  Or was his baptism late?

PS - Amended after discovering the confusion over dates.

Thank you Stovepipe, for looking. They had to have been somewhere, I also found Chate  as Cheat, somewhere.
Their son Abraham immigrated to Canada around 1818 or so , cannot find when he arrived either.
