Rootschat has helped me to appreciate the challenge of researching family history and when you do manage to clear obstacles or brick walls, with help,  there is a sense of achievement.

It's not RootsChat that is so great, but the people who make it up.  RC is just the medium.

People are so helpful and inspiring.  As well ass basic family data I have received, it is the insights and little clues as to what I should be doing.  I am not a very good on-line searcher, but I have managed to struggle a little less.

Thank you everyone.  Rootschat forever!

Hi there

This site seems to be excellent and very very user friendly and I love the ability to be able to attach images to the messages; great, keep up the good work.

The question "DO YOU THINK ROOTS CHAT WILL BE OF SOME HELP TO YOU" is very difficult to answer honestly as you only have three choices - Yes, No or Don't Know.

From past experience of Local & Family History I have found it more enjoyable to be able to help others in their quest for Ancestors, and get great satisfaction from solving difficult research enquires - so I therefore had to reply as 'No' or 'Don't Know' (I'll keep it secret as to which I chose), rather than being positive and saying Yes.

Think about it, is it better to give rather than receive?

Chris in 1066Land (Hastings)

What a strange answer Chris.... of course it is wonderful to be able to help others, and I have done, but it is also marvellous to be able to ask a question and get answers, the benefit of which I have also had.

So probably I should be voting affirmative, except that I doubt Rootschat will continue to benefit me in the future. Perhaps there should be a 4th option:
d: "It has been already. Thank you!"
BORCHARDT in Poland/Germany, BOSKOWITZ in Czechoslovakia, Hungary + Austria, BUSS in Baden, Germany + Switzerland, FEKETE in Hungary + Austria, GOTTHILF in Hammerstein + Berlin, GUBLER, GYSI, LABHARDT & RYCHNER in Switzerland, KONIG & KRONER in Germany, PLACZEK, WUNSCH & SILBERBERG in Poland.

Also: ROWSE in Brixham, Tenby, Hull & Ramsgate. Strongman, in Falmouth. Champion. Coke. Eame/s. Gibbons. Passmore. Pulsever. Sparkes in Brixham & Ramsgate. Toms in Cornwall. Waymoth. Wyatt.

I'm hoping to find quite a bit of family links, starting with my grandfather's great grandfather who has a birthday coming up April 11th. My grandfather is now 92 and has no picture of this anscetor that I'm aware of and very little is known at this time except his name, birthday and marriage details and location, County Antrim 1830.

     Welcome to Rootschat, Antrim Lad.

I feel sure we can give you a lot of help to find your great grandfathers and are only too happy to help.

We really need as much detail as you can give us though, such as your grandfather's name and his father's name as well, along with which town in Antrim you think they were living and when.  As many dates as possible will all make the search easier.

You need to go to this page - https://www.rootschat.com/forum/antrim/ and click on New Topic and in the subject heading the full name of grandfather and place if known.    They write in your request for a search and then it will be all systems, 'Go'.

Good Luck with your search, Malcolm, Mebourne, OZ.

Welcome from me, too  :)

However, we aren't allowed to post details of living people so as your grandfather is still alive then you shouldn't include his name, etc.
