I would like to think so - any chance of finding out new resources or familyconnections has to be a positive.

It's early days but this site has all the signs of being one of the best.  The moderators appear to be friendly and helpful which is a big plus, as is being a user friendly site.  Another big plus is that the site does not deposit a Tracking Cookie on your PC, so many sites do, Spybot tells me so !!  ;D .

It's now 18 July 2004 and time to update my comments above.

RootsChat has been a tremendous help to me, I've received and given more info than on any other board, the Fewell topic started by Julied on the Essex board is a prime example.  I am so impressed and happy with RootsChat that I have had no compunction at all about recommending it to quite a few people and I can recognise at least three of them on RootsChat.  So, many thanks to Administrators and Moderators, your hard work has paid off.
Concentrating currently on:
Essex: Card, Harris, Stowell, Theobald/Tibbles & Turner.
Norfolk: Beale, Cork & Dalton.
Yorkshire: Oswald Sturdy birth/baptism c1708, Oswald where the devil are you?

Just thought I would add my views on the subject, the answer from me is a resounding yes. I say that because after two years of searching for a branch of the SMYTH family, I found them via RootsChat and a fellow chatter.
I have also managed to help one other person in a very small way, that feels almost as good.

I really hope so.  I've been working on my Australian ancestors and am starting to move towards England, Ireland and Scotland.  I hope this forum will assist me and others that don't live in the UK.

I'd say 'definitely'.  I haven't actually found anyone yet, but I HAVE had some useful pointers.  And - as someone else has said - it is early days for the site/
Don't have one yet.

I'm sure this site is set to be one of the best - I only began looking at Family History about a year ago so am still a beginner.

If I can add a thought or answer a question for someone then I will but have to admit I sometimes feel pretty inadequate when in the company of so many knowledgable people.

The attachment and search facility is realy usefull

Congratulations to all involved

Suey,

We hope that Rootschat is friendly enough so that you needn't feel afraid to offer help to anyone.  All help is welcomed and we positively encourage you to offer suggestions.

We are all learning,  and those who say they already know it all are probably not visiting this site.  ;)
