Hello everyone,
all this new info sounds fab - I have three sons who will all carry on the Tarry line and are the last ones for several generations in our branch, so Iam really keen to discover any other Tarry branches who still have living descendents (you people I hope!)
Id be really grateful for any info and am happy to exchange any of my research notes too. My email address is (*)
Many thanks and Happy New Year!  :)

Hi again. I am new to all this and interested in the Tarry branch of my ancestors who hail from London..not got further back than Thos Tarry b 1817 as yet.
The familysearch.org site is brilliant for those ancestors who lived in Ireland, which until this week I'd drawn a complete blank in traceing due to most records there being destroyed in 1922. They have got their info from parish records which would be difficult to access without going onto a fee paying site!!

Thanks serotoninsunrise for the link - Ive been looking up various Tarry's on there and it appears that William Walmsley Tarry's own baptism has been transcribed incorrectly and his name appears as William Walansky Tarry - son of John Tarry and Elizabeth Briscoe Mortimer, bap 25/8/1838 Holcot.

Could he be the William Tarry aged 8 in the 1841 census living in Holcot with John Tarry 40, Elizabeth 40, John 15, Daniel 13, George 11, and Briscoe 6?

My connection to WW Tarry is he was listed (in the 1851 census) as nephew to Benjamin Tarry b.1809 son of Thomas and Martha. Benjamin was my husbands gggg grandfather, Thomas being his ggggg grandfather.

Has anyone managed to see the marriage details for Thomas and Martha which may detail his father?
Thankyou

Wozzle, thanks for that. It explains where the name Golbourn comes from which was used by descendants as a middle name. My grandmother for instance and I was going off on a different tack thinking it was from the Irish line.

Sorry mis-read the message.

Unless the father was a witness at the marriage he would be not
be noted on the 1794 marriage.
