Since my last message have found out Peggy Tyley shops were in the 1978 1979 Yellow pages by this time Peggy must have been in her 70s she was born Frances don't know why she changed it to Peggy .Have been in touch with the Library at Maidstone but all they could tell me is the addresses from the telephone directory's for 1971 1975 and 1980 plus the yellow pages the couldn't find any photographs

I can vaguely remember the shop in High Street,Maidstone.

If my memory is correct the shop was on the right of this photo - perhaps the one with the awning or next to it.

The shops on the right are in Middle Row - the High Street is to the left and Bank Street to the right.  The building at the end of Middle Row is the Town Hall.

I remember the shop in Folkestone - it was on the corner of Guildhall Street (north side) and Shellons Street.  I have a feeling that it may have stood empty for a while after the business closed and was more recently the "Emporium" where parties for children were held and now a greengrocers.

You could try Folkestone library to see if they have a picture http://kent.gov.uk/LibrariespublicUI/OpeningTimes/LibraryDetails.aspx?id=32
