Hiya sancti,

James Skinnider d. October 17th 1917 in Glasgow. Death registered by his daughter, Isabella K. Skinnider. His parents were Thomas Skinnider, shoemaker (dec.) and Isabella Skinnider, subsequently Sl?wey m.s. Kelly (also dec.).

Found on SP ... transcribed as Skinner. ::) Looks like a few children are returning back to the family home. Is James (b. c. 1885) the same boy as Joseph (b. c. 1886)? Definitely Joseph on the original image.

Address: 64 St. John Street, Glasgow, Lanarkshire
James Skinnider, head, mar., 44, foreman mason, b. Ireland
Jane Skinnider, wife, mar., 44, -, b. Barrhead
Thomas Skinnider, son, unm., 19, bricklayer, b. Bellshill
Isabella K. Skinnider, dau., unm., 15, pupil teacher, b. Ballieston
Joseph Skinnider, son, unm., 13, scholar, b. Ballieston
Mary C. Skinnider, dau., unm., 10, scholar, b. Coatbridge
Margaret F. Skinnider, dau., unm., 8, scholar, b. Coatbridge
Catherine J?. Skinnider, dau., unm., 3, -, b. Glasgow

;D

That is a great variant. I did check myself for Isabella, but didn't think to try Bella or a more unusual wildcard search! I was using Skin*er.

Hi Hume,

You may already know this but little Margaret Skinnider grew up to be a "bit of a rebel".

This is a bit off topic but does anyone know of a coat of arms for the Skinnider / Skinader surname? I have been looking in vain for one for the past few days.

I would be very surprised if such a coat of arms exists, but if it does, the Lord Lyon http://www.lyon-court.com/lordlyon/221.185.html or one of his Irish equivalents https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_heraldry will have a record of it.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
