Hi Jenny,

Welcome to Rootschat! I'm always happy for new information and I would love to share what information I have with you. Which of Duke's children is your ancestor? I haven't looked at this line for a while so I'll have to check how far I got.

Cheers, Jane

Hi Jane,

I have to confess that I haven't really done any family tree research - it's all  been handed down to me.  I just happened to be 'Googling' Duke William Paine and your conversation came up on this website.  As I  have quite a bit of info I thought I'd get in touch.  I have a bit of family tree before Duke William going back to his Great grandfather who was William Pain (1731-1800).  The 'e' only starts to appear in the next generation.

My line comes down through his son, Duke Edward, who had Gladys (1889-1975) and Duke William (1895-1978), who was my grandfather.  Duke Douglas was my grandfather's cousin.

Anyway, if you would like me to dig up anything in particular or send info just let me know.  I may be able to get in touch with someone in the family who is doing family history.

Jenny.   :)

Hello again Jenny,

I believe William PAINES parents were William Pain 1696-1755 and Ann Weston 1709-1780, married West Tarring 30 March 1725. I have not yet verifed this information which came from another's research.

I was in touch with a couple of other Paine Family researchers a couple of years ago, both here in Australia and in the UK, one of whom lives in Worthing close to where they came from.

Jane
