Death cause *complete*
« on: Wednesday 25 February 09 17:48 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

Can anyone help me read this 1898 death certificate - i think it says Phthisis Polmonalis... decay of the lungs ?? Tuberculosis of the Lungs? Something along those lines? Can anyone offer a second opinion?

Thanks
Matt  :)

I read that as phthisis pulmonalis

According to a couple of websites, including this one http://rmhh.co.uk/medical.html

Phthisis was:

wasting away of the body due to tuberculosis or consumption

pulmonary tuberculosis
