William PHILP – manufacturer
« on: Sunday 01 March 09 06:39 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to place a William PHILP, manufacturer, in my tree.

He was the witness to the 1802 baptism of a William, the son of John PHILP (manufacturer at Dundee) and Margaret McNIEL (also spelt McNEIL and McNIELL)

The family that I have so far constructed is
John PHILP (parents John PHILP & ?) m. 21 Dec 1795 in Edinburgh to Margaret McNeil (parents Peter McNeil & Elisabeth McINNES)

their children were
John PHILP born 17 Oct 1796, Dundee
Elisabeth PHILP born 15 May 1798, Dundee (She married William STARK and they eventually moved to Middlesex. I know some further details of this family)
Peter PHILP born 28 Feb 1800, Dundee
William PHILP born 17 Jan 1802, Dundee

Does anyone know of a William PHILP who was a manufacturer around 1802, possibly in Dundee.

Or does anyone else know more of the above family.

Regards
Grantley

Hello ,

I see that on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk there are 2 documents in the Wills section - both £5.00 to download.

Philip William 19/08/1811 manufacture in Dundee inventory Brechin Commissary Court CC3/5/2 VIEW (£5.00)
(6 pages)

Philip William 27/08/1811 manufacturer in Dundee. Testament Dative and Inventory  Brechin Commissary Court CC3/3/"

Latter one is I think 2 pages...  Regards,  Steve  :O)
