Haines look up please
« on: Tuesday 03 March 09 12:36 GMT (UK) »
Hello

There is a Gregory Haines b 1861 Sussex recorded in the 1861 and 1871 Census for Sussex and living in London in the 1891 C,ensus.

As the christian name was very commonly linked to our Haines family, I would like to know if this man was in any way related

Would someone please look up these records

Thanks

Simon

Gregory is still single in 1891 - a solicitor living with his widowed father, unmarried sister Elizabeth and unmarried brother Arthur in Putney.

Thanks for the info Jan

Can't see William on my tree.  There is no record of William & Sarah's marriage in Sussex in @1853 (she came from Boxgrove) or in London. The only William Haines b in London (on Familysearch) was bap at Christ Church, Southwark, son of Richard & Esther and one in 1819 son of William & Ann Maria

The Haines did have plenty of property in Sussex, so from his occupation he could be one of the family. But what was he doing in Middlesex?

I will need to find his parents to see whether they moved to London from Sussex or go back until an ascendant is recognised.  ???

Simon

I've had a quick look for William in 41 but can't see an obvious candidate and I don't have access to 51 - maybe post a look-up for him in case he is helpfully still living with parents?

Thanks for further info.

I think there must be more than one Haines living on independent means!. Unless there is a connection much earlier, I think that this is a another Haines family altogether
Still I am intrigued by the christian name. Apart from the Haines', I haven't come across it anywhere else - yet
