Hi,

Is it possible that William HAINES married a relative, I found this possible marriage,

William HAINES    Sep Q 1851    Lambeth    4  408

others with the same reference,

Elizabeth CATTERMULL
John James Robert FRIEND
Sarah HAINES
Mary SHEPHERD
Joseph SMITH
Bridget TINKER
Samuel WORLEY

There is a Sarah HAINES born Boxgrove abt. 1829,

Sarah HAYNES
Christening:  01 APR 1829   Boxgrove, Sussex
Father:  William HAYNES or HAINES
Mother:  Anne

To try and narrow down the others...

I can see a Bridget TINKER born Norfolk living in Lambeth in 1851 and a Joseph SMITH with wife Bridget born Norfolk in Lambeth 1861.

...and that's as far as I can get :(

Regards
Daisy

Thanks Daisy

Are you indicating that William and the other 7 were paired and married, in other words William was m to one of the women in the list etc etc?

Can you tell me the names of William's parents? I can find no mention of Sarah Haines or her parents. Boxgrove was a town inhabited by many Haines during the 16th, 17th and 18th Centuries. I expect this family can probably be traced to one of these. I will need to research this. My last ref was John Haines bap 1614 Boxgrove!

Hi Simon

Daisy is not online so

Yes William Haines will have married one of the women on the list - quite likely

Sarah Haines

You can search here for BMD's post 1837

http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

The baptism for Sarah Haines in Boxgrove is an extracted record on the IGI - this site allows you search extracted entries by parish

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hughwallis/

As you pointed out in an earlier post there is no obvious baptism for William on the IGI so finding his parents is more tricky - although you do have his mother as Ann. Unfortunately I cannot find the family in 1841 when his father may have been alive.

The only sure way of finding out would be a birth certificate for one of the children to confirm Sarah's maiden-name and the the marriage cert to find William's father's name. Probably not a route you wish to take in this case!

Thomas b? m 27/1/1801 Boxgrove d?
Elizabeth (nee Faulkner) b @1775 Hollingbourne, Sussex d?
William bap 2/2/1802 Boxgrove m 11/12/1823 Boxgrove d?

William bap 2/2/1802 Boxgrove m 11/12/1823 Boxgrove d? Living on Independent means
Ann (nee Walkins) b @1802 Boxgrove
Sarah bap 1/4/1829 Boxgrove

What happens to William after 1841?

I'm not sure where Thomas fits in as I have a big gap between him and John bap Boxgrove in 1614!
