Music Hall Conductor in Liverpool

My Dad had been told that someone in the family had been a  Conductor in a

Music Hall  in Liverpool.

The surname was Stringer but no known date.  As far as I know our Stringer's

weren't in Liverpool until 1872 on wards.

My Grandfather left Liverpool in 1902 and I have no local knowledge of the area.

Any help to where I might find some information would be much appreciated.

I've found the "Old Mersey Times" website very useful for all things Liverpool. There is a section on "Entertainment" where you might find something helpful, and there is also a link at the bottom of the page called "Annals of the Liverpool Stage"

Thats the problem, I have no idea of the Christian name, it was just

something  my Grandfather had told my Dad many years ago and in not much

detail

Thats a shame  Maureen,because it isn't possible to type in stringer when looking in newspapers.Because i would come up with anything stringer,streets,avenues ,Hotels and such It would be easier to go through all the census and look for a stringer that was a conductor

At last I have finally found the connection,  turns out he was married to my
Grandfather's sister Frances Stringer and was called George Dibbert and was German.  I managed to solve two mysteries as I had been searching for her for years and yet there she was all the time in Liverpool not far from her parents.

I have traced him back on a few census's with his parents, and with my great aunt on the 1901/11 census where he is down as a Musical Director but would love to find some information after that.

Does anyone have any suggestions where to go from here,
