Hi Althea   :)

These PROV passenger lists are available on microfiche (and the fiche records do give some additional info - e.g. "Native Place" etc.)    Do you have access to them ... (through NZSG perhaps) ?

What I have found, is that there are numerous errors ("typos") in these online records  ... so there's always the possibility that names have been left out  ... or even misspelt.   (Probably though on fiche version, the names are also just recorded as "Mr and Mrs NANKERVIS"  ... but still worth doing a double-check).

[Glad you posted this  ... I just looked at the full list for this Alhambra voyage, and my g-g-gran & g-gran, were also aboard !   WOW !   They must have been returning from visiting the "olds" in AUS ?    So I'll be taking a look at fiche records   ... do you want me to check for your people too ?]

Wow Lu
how weird is that!!!!
If you are looking I'd be grateful if you could look at their entries.
The son (missing baby marries one of my Cornes') and looking also for another researcher who is direct from the line.

Hi Althea

Yeah  .. sure was weird  ... unexpected, too.  (Must make a more thorough search of those lists - some of my lot were "wandering willies" - turning up all over the place).

Can do the look-up for you (next few days).   :)

Hi Althea

Checked out these PROV passenger lists at my library today, unfortunately they only went up to the year 1870 (part 3 of the series).

BUT  .. have just looked at National Library catalogue, and it looks like "part 4" (beyond 1870) are held by Alexander Turnbull Library, so will try there.

Hi Althea   :)

Sorry, there was no babe travelling with Mr and Mrs NANKERVIS.

This is the info from the fiche record :
LDS Film # 0352108

"ALHAMBRA" - departed Melbourne 27 November 1875
destined for NZ ports, with stops at - Bluff, Otago,  Lyttelton, Nelson, Wellington, Auckland, Manukau :

NANKERVIS - Mr (37) Gentleman - M (= married)
NANKERVIS - Mrs (30) Lady - M
both show UK as native place
Accommodation:   Saloon
Disembarked at:    NELSON  :

Checked also the alphabetical list of passengers (in this Part 4 series, period covered is 1871 to 1880)  ... these were the only two with NANKERVIS surname, in those 9 years.
                                 ---------------------

[There was a BECKENHAM family and a Mr. G. OUTRIDGE also disembarking at Nelson  ... are they connected with NANKERVIS ? ]

PS :    Is this your Mr. H.C. NANKERVIS mentioned in this article ??

"Daily Southern Cross" - 16 April 1872 - page 3 - "Inquest"
