Hi everyone I am new to this site. I am stuck with trying to find my grandfather he was born in York in 1877 and married Annie Ambler in 1904. His name was William Henry Atkinson his occupation was a clerk with the Health Dept. I dont know if anyone can help what I want to find oout is when he died. His wife lived in Kent in the 1930s but I have no idea when he died.  He lived in Yorkshire for some years thats all I know.

Hi Flossey

Welcome to Rootschat!  Have you got details of William on the 1881, 1891 and 1901 censuses - if not, we can try to provide them for you?

Hi there here is the details of the 1881 census- William Atkinson born 1877 in Hunslet York.  Father Daniel, Mother Ruth.  He had a brother Caleb born 1875 in Attercliffe York. whom I cannot find anything about.  Havnt looked in the 1891 census, and cant find him in the 1901 census.  He was still in Sheffield in 1906 when my dad was born. From there the only other place is Folkstone in Kent but I dont know if he was still alive there.  Thanks for your reply hope this helps.

Flossey, you mention Folkestone in your posting, I may be able to advise with what is available to assist with your research in that area if you think it worthwhile pursuing that avenue.

On reflection, Flossie, Caleb in 1891 looks like he's 16, not 19.

cheers
