Morning

That's so nice to know that you're related to the same John Shaw too  :)

I will add Sarah and her husband to my tree.  Martha married a James Scott.

Do you know anything more for John Shaw?

Hello Broady,

Thank you for your reply.

The John Shaw I am looking for was christened in 1747, so from your information it looks like John Shaw the son of John.

I've been told that John Shaw's father was a Joseph Shaw, could this information be wrong?

John Shaw, I believe married a Hannah Ellis and one of their children was Martha born about 1775.  Are there any parish records for Martha?

Thank you for taking the time to look.

The Shaw and Mellor connection runs strongly through Darton and funnily enough, Whiston near Rotherham. Later, most of them "Migrated"

i fellow resercher has found this in his records
Ann Shaw - bpt: 8th october 1757 Whiston, St Mary's
she married John Street of Wickersley

Hi,

I've only just noticed your reply, and thank you for that information.

John Shaw has started to get me confused lol  :-\

It seems there were possibly 2 John Shaw's from Darton.  The one we believe is the father of Sarah and Martha who was baptised 1747 and died 1807, this may be the wrong death date for him, as the John who was buried on the 3 November 1807 was recorded as being age 74, that puts his birth date at 1733 and not 1747.  There is a John Shaw born 1733 who is the son of  a Thomas Shaw.

Are you certain about the dates for John Shaw's birth and death?

Confusing I know.

Heidi  :)

Oh Wow!  I just saw the name of Ann Senior on here, I have been searching for her for ages, I have just found that she was born Ann Shaw!  I already had info that my Ann was married to Joshua Charlesworth in 1803, 26th December.  Joshua Charlesworth died soon afterwards aparently.  Ann's baby named William Charlesworth was born 1804 is my 2x great grandfather, and joshua might be my 3 x great grandfather.   The only fly in the oinment is that Ann always said she was born in Hemsworth, which appears to be about 9 miles away.
