Info I have

1851 Bridge St, Maesteg, Llangynwyd H0107/2461 folio 96 pg 16
Janet Stradling widow 53 b. Neath Vale
William son u 23 miner b. Coety
Ann dau u 16 domestic servant
Margaret u 12?Nurse
John son 7
last 3 all born Llangynwyd

1841 hamlet of Cwmdu, village of Maesteg H0107/1422/16 folio 45 pg 15
Jannet Stradling 40 labourer
William 12
Sarah 10
Ann 7
Margaret 1

So Margaret would be born around 1840ish

Margaret Stradling marries William David (Davies) in 1857.
So unlikely your illegimate Jennet born c.1872 is the same as my Jennet.

My Jennet is always listed on census returns as Jennet Davies and all ages given appear to suggest a birth of 1866/67.

Are there 2 Margaret Stradlings in 1851 maybe?

Hi ettab,

I take it you have seen this link:

http://www.stradling.org.uk/

These are the Stradlings of St Donats which is not too far from Coity!  I wonder if there is any relation?

Hello
I have family tree showing marriage of William and Mary 3-5-1830. No record of a Jennet or Janet.
Can give you more information on the Stradlings from which William is descended if required.

There is a member of Glamorgan Family History society who is the definitive expert on the village of Coity and it's inhabitants. A gentleman who has listed all the monumental inscriptions in the churchyard of St Mary's church, Coity . He has lived in the village his whole life and can answer in detail almost any question about the past inhabitants of the village and the history of the village..If you look GFHS up you will see their number for their Archive called the ARC.Call between 10.30 and 3.30 on Wednesdays and they can put you in touch with him...when it come to Coity he is the font of all knowledge !!

Hi, just found this site whilst having a nose around family history. I can see the posts are from years ago, so unlikely the original poster will see.
Jane Stradling/Dyer is my great great grandmother. I believe she had 4 children. Jemima Stockford (her daughter) was my great grandmother. My Aunt knows a lot of the family history and  I’m aware that a member of the family has traced Jemima’s bloodline back century’s. Jemima died in a house fire in the 1980’s.
