Back to Alexander Sands who married Catherine McDonald. After Catherine McDonald died, he married Catherine McPhee. She was previously married to Walter Willoughby Douce. They did not have any children. Her nephew lived with them for awhile. He was a Loval scout. Catherine McDonald and Catherine McPhee were cousins. Haven't found where the connection is yet.

Marriage: 1877 to Walter Willoughby Douce at Bradford, York, England; age 24; father George McPhae, farmer; witnesses James Leggett and Sarah Barlow; here she lists her father as George McPhae, farmer on her second marriage certificate she lists him as John McPhee, crofter, on her death certificate he is listed as Donald McPhee, farmer

Marriage: 1912; to Alexander Sands; Blythswood, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland; Catherine Douce (M.S. McPhee), widow; age 61; parents John McPhee and Janet McPhee M.S. Stewart witnesses John Sloan and Jessie Sands or Finlayson

Death: 1926; Catherine Sands, married to 1st Walter Dow, tailor and 2nd Alexander Sands, slater; age 77; parents Donald McPhee, and Janet McPhee M.S. Stewart, witness Annie Sloan, step daughter

John McPhee and Janette Stewart are the only parents that I can verify.

Wow!  You've done some very thorough research Joyce.

The surname Patrick caught my eye as there is a Patrick family at Kilmallie on the 1841 census - George (a widower) and some of his children.

Read somewhere that a MacPhee/Cameron in Achnasaul fired the shot which killed a Munro officer in the Dark Mile at Achnacarry after Culloden. The shot was intended for a Grant & Munro had borrowed his cloak!

I have that family in census from 1851 to 1891 and Effie's place of birth is listed as Kilmalie, Luchlater ?  = Lochaber possibly, and Bonevie ? = Banavie probably.
The census you quote is obviously from the FreeCEN transcription. Have you viewed the originals of all the census records of your family to ensure that you have the correct versions?

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
