Whitchers of the newforest

Hi I am a Whitcher from the new forest, just wanted to say that it is very difficult to find things out about our family because they are so secretive, and records were not kept back then. Most of the older generations were born and lived in the forest in benders after being rounded up and put there by the counsil, and yes we are English romany travellers Sorry I could not have been of more help.

This book from the internet archive places Isacc Whitcher at Harroway, Hampshire at the point of his marriage to Joanna Wade

This is a bit different from Eling, was Eling the registration area?

Here is an Alexander Whitcher with a father Isaac Whitcher, did he marry again after being widowed to Mary? Or is this a different man??

Porchester is in Fareham, Hampshire. Yeoman again I am afraid!

If Mary Witcher died in 1849, then Harry's GRO registration should give Mary's maiden name?

Issac was repeatedly in the bastardly bonds. Maybe look for Alexander baptised under a different surname?
