Hi Nigel,  What type of info. are you looking for?  Is it  BMD's/census information?  If so, can you supply names, ages birthplaces, anything that will help.   Or are you looking for info. on any architecture by the Barclay family in Glasgow?

Hi Nigel, I wonder if this could be part of your family, 1881 census.   Guess it's worth checking out.

   Dwelling:   6 Buckingham St
   Census Place:   Govan, Lanark, Scotland
Source:   FHL Film 0203690     GRO Ref    Volume 646-2    EnumDist 33    Page 3
   Marr   Age   Sex   Birthplace
Hugh BARCLAY   M   52    M   Kilmarnock, Ayr, Scotland
   Rel:   Head
   Occ:   Architect
Helen BARCLAY   M   44    F   Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland
   Rel:   Wife
Agnes BARCLAY   U   18    F   Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland
   Rel:   Daur
   Occ:   Scholar
Hugh BARCLAY       16    M   Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland
   Rel:   Son
   Occ:   Architects Apprentice
Jessie BARCLAY       14    F   Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland
   Rel:   Daur
   Occ:   Scholar
David BARCLAY       7    M   Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland
   Rel:   Son
   Occ:   Scholar
Helen BARCLAY       3    F   Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland
   Rel:   Daur
David BARCLAY   U   34    M   Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland
   Rel:   Brother
   Occ:   Architect

Possibly son David age 7 is your grandfather Hugh's father.
Of course, it would need more checking to be 100% but it looks a good possibility.

Fantastic, you have them,  as i had Davids parents as Hugh+Helen----do you have access to other census's which would list Hugh with his parents and brothers and sisters

In any case thanks for that

Nigel

On the 'architect' side of things, have you thought of contacting these people http://www.ahss.org.uk/index.html to see if they can help you to track down any work undertaken by the family? Don't know if they would be able to do this but I am sure it is well worth a try. If they can't help, perhaps thay could direct you to others who can.
