Richard Pryce look-up 1827
« on: Thursday 17 February 05 15:52 GMT (UK) »
I've drawn a blank going any further back with the Pryce family.  My great great grandfather Richard Pryce born about 1827 married a Mary Pryce.
Can anyone find his parents please.

Thanks, Welsh rose

I thought I would have a quick look at the 1901 and is the undermentioned any good? Not the same area as you thought but you never know

I have the Pryce family in the 1881 and 1891 censuses before
your grandfather was born. Also the Richard Pryce/Sarah Jane Reese marriage in 1878.
If you do not have these details, please come back to me.

That is very interesting info of Alex Pryce in Bedwellty, as I do have another connection there, so I shall certainly look into it.

I already have the 1881 and 1891 census but thanks for the marriage details, I didn't have that.
Any possibility of finding Richards father, I have information that his name was also Richard born 1825 married to a Mary Hughes born 1821, but have not confirmed it yet.

Many thanks for the replies.

Hello again

The full details of the marriage, in case you want to order a Certificate, are:-

Richard Pryce/Sarah Jane Reese - qtr ending Sept.1878
@ Newtown Folio/page 11b/223
(details per Free BMD)

As regards Richard Pryce, senior, the 1851 census shows :

living at Kerry Rd, Newtown
Richard Pryce  (24)  Ag.Lab.  b.Newtown
Mary Pryce  (27)  wife, b. Llandinam
Edward Pryce (2 weeks) b. Newtown

In 1861, living at Kerry Road West, Newtown
Richard Pryce  (35) Ag.lab. b. Newtown
Mary Pryce  (37) wife, b.Llandinam
Edward Pryce (10)  son, b.Newtown
Richard Pryce (7)  son, b.Newtown
John Pritchard(??) (5) son, b.Newtown
This latter surname is surely a transcription error.

Hope this helps

Regards

Hi Welsh Rose

Further to our previous correspondence, I notice that on RootsWeb.com message board for Montgomeryshire, there is someone called Pat enquiring about the same Richard Pryce as you had an interest in.
You may wish to reply to him/her.

Regards
Stan

Hello,

My great great grandparents were the same Richard & Mary Pryce. Were you able to trace their parents ?
Who were your great grandparents ?
Best wishes,
Tim

Hello Welsh Rose,

Thanks for your message, all came out fine except I can't post a reply !

After Sarah's death Richard re-married, to Annie in 1899. My grandfather Redvers was born in Brecon in 1900. They had 2 further children, Gordon b1907 and Lily b1910

Have you been able to go any further back ?

Tim
