Thanks Kingskerwell and I am glad to be here!  And since your date of 1858 for the marriage of Daniel Somers and Anne McIvor is clarified, Gerald,  it appears that my gggrandfather, John Somers, born in 1858, is their first child.  I will look further into the Emerald site.    Gerald, have you any insight into the generations that precede Daniel?  I am wondering what the Somers origins were?

Hello Somersgirl  I have just recently begun this quest to find more about my family I'm not sure of the origin of Somers. I visit Limavady and Magilligan regularly and I know that there are a lot of distant cousins still in the area
I am also in touch with McIvors whose family moved from Bellarena to Derry many years ago their late Father Joe McIvor was My Grandmother Rebecca's Cousin
I will check up again on what dates etc I have and can give you what info I have
you can also email me or instant message me

Hello again Somersgirl do you see a family resemblance in the photo of Rebecca which appears beside my username?

Yes, I see a bit of resemblance.   I will post John Somers (Junior)'s photo as my image and you can compare as well.
