**COMPLETED**Charles Beames POTTER and Eunice Bertha BRAY
« on: Wednesday 01 April 09 07:00 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am hoping that someone out there has access to the Victorian BMD fiche/CD, as I am having no joy with the online service at the moment.  It keeps telling me that it is processing my request and then sits there for ages doing nothing.

Trying to find information on the births and marriage  of both Charles Beames POTTER and Eunice Bertha BRAY.

I know that Charles' parents were George and Charlotte Elizabeth ( nee BEAMES ) POTTER and from the Electoral Rolls that Charles and Eunice were living at 2 Wynnstay Place Armadale Victoria with George and Charlotte in 1924.  So their marriage was most likely pre 1925.

I have George POTTER and Charlotte Elizabeth BEAMES marriage 1896 Portland Victoria.

I have George POTTER's death cert from 1924 which states that he had no issue from either of his marriages ... in fact he had 3 children with his first wife in NZ and at least Charles Beames with Charlotte..... unless of course Charles Beames was Charlotte's son born prior to her marriage to George.

Any help gratefully received.

Cheers

Many thanks Cando... will let you know what comes up on the marriage cert when I get it sorted.

Have to go out in a sec and get the kids from Art classes.... and the pressure cooker is burbling away with a chunk of corned beef.  So that 's dinner sorted.  It's my one and only day off this week... so making the most of it hunting down lost family members for my friend Jayne.

I have trawled the indexes.   There can see no  births with mother Charlotte BEAMES and son Charles.  Perhaps they forgot to register his birth.  Wonder if he may have been adopted and that is the reason George's death cert stated no issue with Charlotte although his issue from his first marriage were omitted.  Who was the informant on George's death cert in 1924?

Searched in all states including Tas and SA and finally found this in Qld...mistranscribed.  Thank goodness you had her 2nd given name.  I hope this is your Eunice Bertha :-\

1901/B2710
BRAY   Venis Bertha Rebecca
Father Edward Thomas     Mother Emily Louisa Beames

I checked the PROV Wills index to see if George POTTER who died in 1924 had a will but nothing listed.

I see Charlotte Elizabeth remarried. Wonder if Charles is mentioned as issue of former marriage.

POTTER Charlotte Elizth
ALEXANDER David
1930   Reg#2309

and her death

ALEXANDER Charlotte Elizabeth
Father Beams Daniel  Mother Rebecca  SEABROOK
At Portland  76 years   1949  Reg#17268

Another source to check Charles Beames birth.

Just found the same thing Cando.... turns out that Charles' mum and Eunice's mum are sisters......  and they married in the church next door to their house in Wynnstay Place now Wynnstay Road in Armadale.

The plot thickens...wonder if Charles is actually one of George's children from his first marriage and they just chucked the Beames name in after George and Charlotte married.... ??  Stranger things have happened.....
