Help please..is this possible?
« on: Thursday 02 April 09 00:09 BST (UK) »
I'm now searching back into the 1700. I have come across
a family that had 3 daughters all had the same name.
Heres the information
Father: Joseph Tilt    born 1740
Mother: Sarah (Yeates) Tilt born 1737
Son: Joseph Tilt born 1758
Daughter Mary Tilt born 1764
Daughter Mary Tilt born 1772
Daughter Mary Tilt born 1773
All born in Bromsgrove England.
I have seen where they re use the name 2 times but not 3 times. Is this possible, and is there away to find this out?
Thanks ;D

Hi  :)

From the IGi the Joseph Tilt, born 1758 has parents James and Sarah ??? not Joseph and Sarah.

There are 2 Marys also, 6mths apart 1772 and 1773 to James and Sarah. From this i would think there is more than one couple of this name having children in Bromesgrove at the same time. These are extracted records. There are also others submitted that should be taken with caution.

If you enter Joseph Tilt 1758, bapt, into IGI and then click on batch and search for parents James and Sarah there are 14 children born between 1764-1780. It is not impossible they are all theirs,  but i personally think there are more than one J/S having children Bromesgrove at same time.

This is just my humble opinion and you might get others :)

Hi Trish

I shall be of to Worcestershire on holiday any day now & when on one of my visits to the History Centre I will check the Bromsgrove parish registers for you - but I think the first mary may have died & the name was reused for the second daur & her baptism may have been transcribed twice (once 1772 & again 1773)

Wish me luck

All the very best

Hi Phil,

I'm just a star ;D ;D
Seriously I am not exactly sure about the number of stars and until you pointed it out did not realise I was up to 5. There is a thread somewhere explaining it.
I think you will change again at 500 posts and become a veteran ;). My next change is 1000 I think ???

Cheers,
trish
