Arthur PRESLEY + Sarah LEGGE
« on: Wednesday 08 April 09 22:38 BST (UK) »
Hey guys i am having huge difficulties with these two people.  They married in 1873 sept quarter in chepstow s.wales

I have found them on the census for 1901, where Arthur Presley is shown as being born in "Kingston, Deverill, Wiltshire" in 1850

she is shown as being born in london

If i try to find him on any ealier census the only one i can find is for 1871 where the age matches up as does the place of birth, but he is down as living with some one else and is down as "son-in-law" which i do not under stand as he did not marry for another 2 years, sureley he couldnt re marry that quick!

as for her i can not find any thing ealier then  1871 either where she is down as living with her grand mother.

i hope some on can help me,  regards Gareth

son-in-law was a frequent description used by enumerators for step-children so either his mother has re-married or his father has re-married and died so he is with his stepmother.

Per freebmd  http://freebmd.rootsweb.com

Births June qtr 1849

Arthur  PRESLEY Warminster  8 471

You don't give any details of Sarah's birth year but you could check freebmd for a birth reg for her

Have you looked for Arthur on the 1851 and 1861 census?? You will find him on the 1851 as Pressley.  Did you know you can search on partial names (eg) art** pres**

Have you looked for Sarah on the 1861 census
