CARR family - Norfolk
« on: Saturday 19 February 05 14:11 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I am researching the CARR family from Norfolk.
SOPHIA CARR was born in Norwich in c. 1829 and married into the HARCOURT family.

I know that Sophia's father was WILLIAM and her mother was ANN and I've also got information from the Census 1841 - 1891.

Interested to know if anyone else is looking into this family.

Willing to share info.

Hi ferret1,
I only have one CARR in my family tree, so far, and she is Sarah Carr born about 1778.
She married James Mortimer who was born 1772 in Great Melton, Norfolk.
Their son George was baptised in Marlingford, Norfolk in 1810, and they were registered as living in Marlingford on the 1841 census. Sarah died there in 1846.

I would be interested to know if Sarah links in with any of your Carr family.

Regards,
Leodis44

Hi Leodis44,

I haven't got a Sarah CARR on my tree, but then mine only goes back to William b. c. 1786

I suppose it's possible that he was Sarah's brother?

I will keep your information on file and get back in touch if anything comes up.

Good luck in your research, Ferret1

As the family lived in the two villages for over 300 years and married into most of the other local families............

I only posted this to ask if anyone had found a connection to Weasenham, as I have lots of information on the Carr family of Weasenham.  I have not, sadly, got time to post all of the information on here.

The family were millers.

Hi Rococo,

I am descended from Sophia Carr and Samuel Harcourt, they are my 3x great grandparents.

Sophia Carr was born in about 1827 in Catton, Norfolk. Her father was William, a shoemaker and he lived in Norwich. He was born in about 1786 in Norfolk. He died after 1851. His wife was Ann (don't know surname) and she was born in Norfolk in about 1796.

William and Ann had at least 5 children:
William b. c. 1826
Eliza b. c. 1826
Sophia b. c. 1829
Harriot b. c. 1830
Amelia b. c.1834

This is all the information I have at the moment.

Where do you fit into the family tree?
