Edinburgh Council are the place to start.

You could also try newspapers for Obituaries/death announcements which may have details of funerals.

I'm having trouble finding either of them on Scotland's People. How did you get the year of death? Have you viewed the death certificates?

It helps to have the exact date when searching for a burial.

Thank you!

Came across them in the Russian-language magazine, that's why not sure about the names' spellings. Both names are far from common Russian names.

Will try to get their spellings righ first.

Hi,

Do you know if they were Russian Jews.  The reason that I am asking is that where they lived was just a short distance from the only Synagogue in Edinburgh.  It is also a very well to do area.  It is a small culdesac and only has a few large houses in it.  On the corner used to be the 'Avon Hotel'.  It is off a busy thourough fare in Edinburgh.  I would suggest that the likley burial place may be Mortonhall Cemetry if they are buried.  If they were RC they may be buried at MOunt Vernon.

Regards,
Lynda

As far as I can get from the article, he had English roots (ancestors coming from Liverpool) so he was anglican until late in life he conveted to Russian orthodox.

Some more info:

Marie Lousie Prehn died 4th January 1952 at 4 East Castle Street, Edinburgh, although she usually stayed at 77 Leamington Terrace, also Edin. She was 79. Her death was registered by her nephew, Eric T Prehn, of 6 Spence Street. Her parents were James Prehn, merchant (deceased) and Amelia Prehn m.s. Brandt (also deceased).

So now we know Eric's grandparents ... :)
