Sub-districts and Hundreds near Carmarthen
« on: Tuesday 21 April 09 22:48 BST (UK) »
It was with some annoyance that I discovered that not only was Llanwinio a place, but also a parish, and therefore my ancestors could have been spread a little more across Carmarthenshire than I had previously thought...

I'm hoping someone might be able to help me narrow down the area that they were in... One address I have, which I appreciate isn't that useful, is Ffosyffwrn, which in a census is in "Upper Hamlet" and a cert places it in the Subdistrict of Conwil. An earlier birth certificate mentions "Llain, Llanwinio" in the subdistrict of Conwyl Cayo. I'm not really sure where the borders are, etc... was hoping someone with a bit of knowledge can help me! thanks x

hi ash
came across this quite by accident,  trying to identify pantycoed in upper hamlet,  llanwinio,  surprise surprise im looking at the same family !!!!! who are very distant ancesters.
a close neighbouring property in the 1881 census to pantycoed, upper hamlet llanwinio is myrtle hill, google this address and it is in the hamlet of present day gellywen which is a couple of miles south east of the hamlet of llanwinio, and coincidence of coincidences my brother lives in llanwinio !!
