Hiya Sue,

That family is in the 1841 census at Achiltibuie, I do not have much data on them, but you can see them at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~coigach/achil.htm#41-21

The Parish register notes the marriage as 11 March, 1826, both resident at Coigach.

All the best,

Donald.
Primarly Coigach, but also other parts of Ross and Cromarty.

As you can probably see by when I posted that message, that patients is a virtue.
Thanks again

Hi Susie,

I have just started researching my family, father Neil MacLeod, his father Neil Macleod,
and I have ended up at Hugh McLeod b1871 Loth.
My mother was Dolina and she died in July 2011.

Gordon, can you be a bit more specific? There must have been hundreds of M(a)cLeods in Easter Ross (there are 3,700 pre-1855 baptisms on Scotland's People for Ross and Cromarty as a whole).

If you can give names, dates and parishes of the ones you are interested in, you might have a bit more success.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Hi Sue, my interest in McLeod/MacLeods intersects with your family.  See: https://www.bayanne.info/Shetland/getperson.php?personID=I27562&tree=ID1.   As you can see in the 1881 census these McLeods lived in Nigg, Ross & Cromarty.  I believe Kenneth McLeod and Alexanderia McAngus are the parents.  Hugh McLeod and Mary McLeod are grandparents (Achiltibuie, Lochbroom), and Donald McLeod and Margaret McLean of Coigach great-grandparents.  I am looking for more information of Kenneth's (1874-1949) brother John born in Helmsdale, Sutherland in 1881.  You may have this info already.  The brother Hugh went to Wick and married Andrewina Sinclair Gunn another fisher family.  And Catherine went to Lerwick and married John Strong Sinclair.
