Looking for Benjamin Gibbon (found that there can be variation on name in the USA spellings) born Nov 9, 1824 Carmarthenshire,Wales.  Married Mary (Thomas ?).  Welsh born children x 3.  possibly 3 boys or 2 boys 1 girl.  Migrated Pennsylvania, USA approx.  1857.   Benjamin possible farmer but shows as miner in Pennsylvania census.  Story goes he gave up a farm to the crown for some reason.

Thank you Welsh Lady!  Looks like you got it.  I've got Mary Thomas born Oct 27, 1829.  Had father at 1799 but looks like 1792.  Benjamin & Mary are my GGGrandparents who  immigrated Pennsylvania in 1857 aboard the "Empire State" arriving New York 17 July.  I had Amy at 1802 but didn't know names and could be earlier.  If you are interested in them, I have photo's of Benjamin and Mary I can attach.  Again, much appreciated.  Cheers from downunder!

Tried to find same information you provided.  Looked on Ancestry but no luck.  Are you using another site?

Hiya i have the census on disc.On Ancestry they are mistranscribed as Gribbon in 1851 try that
Do you know Mary Thomass Fathers name ?

I cannot find them in 1841 as yet below is a possible brother of Jonah something to keep on record until clarified

Ok have just solved it by finding their marriage Jonah and Amy are the wrong family.Theophilus in 1841 above is his Father thats the correct family

That makes sense now.  Benjamin and Mary's first born is named Theophilus.  Found them in the 1960 US Census of Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. Theophilus age 19 Wales, Reese age 7 Wales, Owen age 4 Wales, Phenias age 1 Pennsylvania and my GGGrandmother Debora age 1 month.
Thanks for straightening out the 1851 census.  I kept going in circles and thought I was just having a boy look!!

With regard to father of Mary.  Had a few looks But not sure where she was born.  Found two that might match.

1841 Wales Census: Edward Thomas Age 42 born abt 1799 from Mynyddyslwyn,Monmouthshire (My GGGrandfather David E. Richards, Debra Gibbon wife, could be that the E. stands for her Gfathers name).  I'm named after David. Wifes name Catharine Thomas age 40.

or

1841 Wales Census:  D Richard Thomas age 50, wifes name of Mary Thomas age 45 from Treleach,Carmarthenshire.

Nice of you to find the farm.  We were wondering if it was just a story.  Hope to get there someday.  Thanks for what you've found to date.
