Thank you Sarah. it is good to learn what Rootschat do, and that Rootschat give such respect  to those chatterers who have died.

To continue what Sammy started,  I had a quick look around and wondered if you Pat knew about the website that has recently put on line Co Down Tithe Applotment Books, which for Newtownards are disappointing as only the townlands of Ballyskeaugh and little Ballyskeaugh are listed.   The originals are in PRONI Belfast.  the TAB website is
http://www.irishgenealogyhub.com/down/tithe-applotment-books/newtownards-parish.php#.VaYVv0uDoYU  PRONI need to be visited to double check no other townlands exist, perhaps in Dublin

To give you a sample of the index entries for comber
from http://www.irishgenealogyhub.com/down/tithe-applotment-books/comber-parish.php#.VaYRHkuDoYV
McMillen, Hugh    Townland: Ballyrush Year: 1835
McMillen, Hugh    Townland: Lessor Ballyhenry Year: 1835
McMillen, Hugh    Townland: Ringcreevy Year: 1835
McMillen, John    Townland: Ballyrush Year: 1835
McMillen, John    Townland: Carnasure Year: 1835
McMillen, Robert    Townland: Monearea Year: 1835
McMillin, James    Townland: Monearea Year: 1835

So I next looked up Ros Davies townland map and found those townlands are separated by Ballynichol so its likely there were two John McMillens living in Comber, rather than one.
Whilst on Ros Davies website in her surname list  she has an entry confirming your Andrew’s father was a John. She has many other McMillan/McMillen entries. her website is http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~rosdavies/

 Only recently I stumbled upon Robert Beatties amazing Newtownards website, and should have looked it up first and within it is
http://www.newtownards.info/family-mc-millan.htm
he starts with a list of births
McMillan, Nathaniel - c1804
McMillan, Robert "Hamilton" - c1830 - {Father Nathaniel McMillan of Newtownards} - {Mother Agnes McCloud of Newtownards}
Further siblings were born in Australia - Alexander~Hamilton~Nathaniel~William~Nathaniel {sic} - Thomas~James Alexander~John~Robert~Thomas {sic} - John {sic}
Macmillen, William - 16th. November 1834 - {Father John Macmillen} - {Mother Margaret ..............}
he has a deaths section, including headstones, marriages where there is
McMillan, William - 3rd. December 1835 - Married Jane Stewart
then he has your
McMillan, Andrew - 24th. January 1853 aged 23 - {b.c1830} -  (Father John McMillan)  - Married Margaret Stewart - (Father Thomas Stewart) - Lived on Movilla Street

Robert Beattie might well have searched for The tithe applotment records. If you don’t have contact I recommend it.

Pat,  all that is perhaps known to you, now I’m off to check why didn’t I put http://www.newtownards.info onto my bookmarks page.
