If his father was a Baptist minister and the children were brought up as Baptists, there won't be any infant baptisms as that rite isn't practised by Baptists. Sometimes, there's a list of children born to members.

This is entitled Shropshire but covers Wales

http://www.shropshirebaptist.org.uk/history.htm

There are some Baptist records here - be careful of cost -  it's easy to spend too much with a common surname

http://www.bmdregisters.co.uk/

Address in 1841 reads Bankyffynon, but more likely Bancyffynon as there's no 'k' in Welsh

I have Baptists in Pembrokeshire, so sympathise.

Hi Osprey,

Thanks again for info. & help - appreciated  :)

I have registered with BMD but not bought any credits yet.

I did a search for baptism name of Peter Jones and 3 came up for Carmarthen - thought I was going to be lucky but I don't think any of these are the ones I'm looking for :-[

1823 RG4 4024 Rock Independent Chapel in Trelech ar Bettws
1831 RG4 2255 Calvinistic Methodist Chapel Llanarthney
1831 RG4 2256      "                 "             "          "

I have ordered Peter's marriage certificate hoping that I'm on the right track and this may give me some further insight into the family  :-\

I'm going to start a new post for Peter's father John Jones as there's some indexed information in two welsh books which may relate to him  :-\

If he was brought up as a Baptist, his baptism might be when he was around 15 going on what I found in my Baptist lot, although can be later than that. We're probably talking full body immersion.

Hi Osprey,

Thanks for that - I have no idea whether he was brought up as a Baptist  :-\

I'm hoping to see John Jones Baptist Minister on the marriage certificate for Peter Jones - otherwise back to the drawing board  :-\

I'm also hoping James Jones b1869 Glamorgan that I was tracing from his marriage certificate with father named Peter Jones is the correct one - there's far too many James JONESES in Glamorgan to even take a guess as to which birth certificate I should order and far too costly to order everyone in the hope I might find the correct one ???

I must wait patiently for 1911 - fingers crossed that I don't have to start all over again  :)

Thanks again for help
