Brodie of Dundee

Hi,
I'm not sure where to post this as (being in Australia) I've no idea which county Dundee is in.

I've recently discovered that my Great-great Grandfather, John Brodie, was born in Dundee, Scotland.
John Brodie died Jan 28, 1896 in Hillgrove, NSW, Australia.
His death certificate states that he was born in Dundee, Scotland and had lived in New South Wales for
about 23 years (so a rough immigration date of 1873).
His parents were John Brodie, who was a baker and Elizabeth Hamilton.  Both Johns were bakers.
I've been unable to find them so far using Scotland's people and was wondering if anyone else had come across them?

Well I've since found Dundee is in Angus County...would appreciate it if a moderator could move the post there

   Would you have  a birth year for John and did he come to Australia by himself or did his parents come also?

Best estimate for a birth year is 1850/1 (sorry forgot to put in original post) He died Jan 28, 1896 aged 45. As
to whether he arrived on his own or with parents I'd be guessing his own as he would have been 22.  Haven't gotten
as far as that yet
