Hi Amber - no that's not him - he's the "other" William G . The William we are loking for will not be with his wife (mary Ann-we have her in 1901 - but William is not at home

Hi Suz

Looks like he died June qtr 1903, Ipswich 4a 495, so I wonder could he be the,

 W G L born 1861 in Suffolk on Anc.

Sorry I don't have a sub just now but I found this one on the index by just putting in the search; W G for first name, 1861 for birth date & Suffolk for residence. :)

Hope you can find him. ;)

Maddie - you clever girl - it very much looks like that is him - place fits, occupation fits

It doesn't give p.o.b. for any of them

1901
Borough Asylum
Ipswich Suffolk

(all patients have a number and then are entered by just initials)
2315 W.G.L. Patient married 40 Retired Carpenter  - lunatic

Rg13 1781 139 5

so possibly the poor man had some kind of breakdown - and ended up in the asylum - and Hilda became a nurse at the asylum to "keep an eye" on  her father - she sounds a caring person to me

That's great,   ;), I had a feeling it might be an Asylum. To think his daughter actually took up nursing possibly because of her father.

I do hope after all this that we have the correct family for Selena. ;D

I am pleased that you have solved this .
I too had found the death and was searching for William in the Ipswich Hospital.
Is there any way of looking through old Hospital or Asylum records to make'' certain for sure '' as the saying goes.
