Kirkby Lonsdale St Marys Church.Roll of Honour
« on: Monday 18 May 09 10:16 BST (UK) »
Hi
Whilst visiting the church at the weekend i had a look at the "Lest We Forget" folder in the church.
There is a lad on the Roll of Honour John W Blamire whos date of death is unknown.
I decided to look further and have had access to his Service Record.
Basically he went missing between the Hospital in France and the UK recieving station
His death was accepted by MOD as in March 1919
His family tried to trace him to no avail and they were given a death plaque and Scroll.

He is NOT remembered on the CWGC at present however with help from the Great War Forum "In From The Cold Project" he has now been added to their list to get recognition on the National Debt Of Honour.

If anyone knows who carried out any of the initial research on the lads on the roll could they please pass me the info through PM so i can let them know the process that is going on and also to acknowledge them on bringing his name to my attention.

Another soldier "not forgotten"

Just wanted to add that Pte Blamire has been officially recognised as a Non Commemorated soldier by the MOD and that he will shortly be added to the CWGC Debt of Honour and remembered on the Brookwood Memorial 1914-1918

Another soldier in from the cold...Not Forgotten RIP.
