Hi John,

I'm hoping you are still reviewing this post.

I think we are second cousins once removed. Daniel Daly was also my great grandfather, my grandfather being Patrick Daly (who married Margaret Kilmurray).

I'm guessing you might be Joe Daly's son in which case my mother Breda (Daly) Walsh was his first cousin.

I've been threatening to look at the family history for a while and finally started doing something about it this year. I'd be very interested in comparing notes, particularly if you have any original documents or photos.

And even better I'm now only around the corner from you in Glasnevin.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Anne

Hi zzjopark and John,

Doesn't look like either of you have checked in here recently but just incase.

zzjopark the marriage record you were looking for for Daniel and Julia shows the marriage took place in St Paul's Arran Quay on 12th Oct 1873.

Unfortunately it only gives the two fathers names - Patrick Daly with an address in Kilkenny and Michael Kavanagh with his address given as Liverpool. There is no further information for Julia's family.

You gave wife's name of Mary and listed some of the other kids, could you let me know where you got this information?

John I found some old newspaper articles regarding your grandfathers death, not sure if you have seen them or not.

Many thanks

A

What occupations were given for the 2 father's - this might help narrow down a search !

Hi Tara,

Unfortunately no occupation is given for either father on the marriage cert.

Will keep digging.

....

sounds like that may be an RC parish record - a civil cert should show occupations.

I have just returned to this site after several years.  I am still interested in the Julia Kavanagh who married Daniel Daly 12 October 1873 in Dublin.

I am a descendant of Julia's parents - Michael and Mary who lived in Liverpool with their other children (everybody born in Ireland)
Liverpool, Ireland, Devon, Cambridge, Southampton, Lincolnshire

The marriage cert is now online
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1873/11287/8140744.pdf

And the church register
https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000633663#page/148/mode/1up
Top of the page.

If any of Julia's siblings listed in the first post were born after 1864 they should have birth Certs online.

1846 Michael Cavana to Mary Mooney at Pro Cathedral
daughter Agnes baptised 1863
Maria Esther baptised 6th April born 27th March 1866 no obvious civil cert
these two names tally with the 1871 and 1881 English census of Liverpool on Family Search
