Hello all

I thought that I would just share with you who have helped.

I have today received the mc for Henry Mellors and Kate Dunn

His father is named as John Hemstock (Castrator)

Which leads to another puzzle.

It looks like Henry was born to Sophia and John BEFORE John was married to the illusive wife. ???

That's brilliant news as it fits with everything else doesn't it?  So you need to find the family in 1861 now then ......... and in the other census back from there.

John Hemstock 65
Sophia Mellows 37
Henry 4

Henry is described as a visitor.

On the record of marriage for a John Hemstock and Elizabeth Paxton June 1860 

I dont think this could have been the same John as it seems he would have been 66 when he married.  Doesn't really sound right??
