Reginald NAYLOR & family VICTORIA
« on: Friday 05 June 09 11:08 BST (UK) »
I am looking to find anything about the family of Reginald Naylor who sailed for Melbourne in 1923 with his wife Sara May and son. We have them on the passenger list of the SS Benella, which sailed from London in Jan 1923, but I didn't find them on the assisted emigration list of the Victoria PRO.
Reginald is described as a stockman, and probably went to work on a sheep farm.

This is not my family but told a friend who is related to the Naylors that I would see what I could find out for them.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Eric,

Sarah May Naylor died aged 62 in 1959 at Cheltenham.
Ref  = 25111

Her father was given as Horace Camwell and her mother was unknown.

If Reginald was Reginald Randolph Naylor, he died aged 48 in 1945 in Melbourne.
Ref = 11930
Father was given as Samuel Naylor and mother as Jessie Struthers.

No.....I've just found that he seems to have been Reginald Charles Naylor......more info coming......

 ;D   ;D    Jenn.....

On the 1931 Electoral Roll, Sarah May Naylor and Reginald Charles Naylor are both listed at 20 Claude St, Northcote, Victoria.

Reginald is given as a storeman, and Sarah as a manageress.

In 1936 they are both at 509 Murray Rd, Preston, Victoria.
Reginald is listed as a storekeeper, and Sarah as a manageress.

Any idea what the son's name was, Eric?

I can't see a death for a Reginald Charles Naylor to 1985 in Victoria.

Any idea on his parents' names, Eric?

Looks like the son's name was Reginald A. Naylor.   :D

On the Index to Unassisted Inward Passenger Lists to Victoria 1852-1923 in 1923 Reg Chas Naylor, aged 30, Sarah Naylor, aged 25, and Reg A. Naylor, aged 6 all arrived on the Benalla at Port B, Fiche 965, page 005.

Hi Dee & Cando,
Thank you so much for the replies, They should give my friend plenty to go on. We have some Australian friends staying with us at the moment and he was staggered to find that I could put a message on about 11:10 and have several replies within half an hour.
Presumably there could be some of the son's family still alive, for her to search for.

I have some details of the couple before they left England. Her parents confirmed as Horace  & Elizabeth Camwell.
Reginald's parents were James Young Naylor and Elizabeth  (from the 1911 Census and he was born in Malvern WOR.

I didn't find them on the Proarchives site as I had used his full name and not just Reg!!!!!

Thank you both very much again

Regards

Eric
