Hello geniecolgan. I have just had a look through my unchecked list of leavers and Charles Colgan can be found at the top of MEPO 4/341 Pages 137 and 138. Hello again Genie. There is a chance, given the amount of time that he served (abt. 25 yrs), that there's a pension record for him. I would imagine that it would be under MEPO 21/29, as this record covers that period of time.

The National Archives has a guide called Metropolitan Police (London): Records of Service that might be of some use should you look further.

Hi Barnaby,

thank you again.

The guide is most informative about the codes used within each record. I now know that gt. grandad left with an excellent record :)

I already have a copy of his retirement records (provided by a cousin) but I will have a go at searching for his retirement records at The National Archives.

ok, very silly question:
I've found the correct page on flickr;

I can see the thumbnail and get a larger version. How to I enlarge the "larger version"?

Hi BarnabyP,
Well done, there's a huge amount of work involved in there.

I've had a look through for an ancestor who was in the Mounted Police in London in 1872. Do you have any records that early?
Best wishes, Jimmijam
My email address is not working sorry.

I don't have any photos of documents that cover that period of time. Sorry Jimmijam.

Good luck with the searching.
