« on: Saturday 13 June 09 14:28 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find the full name [and any other details] about Rev Harcourt N. T. Busfield who was Vicar of Saint John's Church, Coley in 1838.  I have tried all the usual freebie sites without much progress.

Thanks in advance

This could be him - marriage Sept quarter 1837 Coventry 16 293

HARCOURT NORRIS TORRIANO BUSFIELD

What a fantastic name!

Looking at A******sty records he could have moved to Scotland as there is a Rev Busfield mentioned there.

Says Wife 1)  is margaret Hay McLEOD, which is one of the brides in 1837, and she died 1849 in England.
Wife 2) Was Catherine MORGAN married 1850 but no marriage details (I wonder if they married in Scotland)

Apparently he may have died in New Brunswick.

He died in Scotland, so did Catherine. She in January 1876 and he in march.

Scotland's People has a will indexed for him and an Inventory for her (she died intestate.

http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk
Free to Register and Search Indexes to a point.
Can pay and download certs and Will information.

IGI has the marriage of he and Catherine in December 1849 in Aberdeen (extracted Record).
The marriage is also on Scotlands People in the OPR Marriages.

Hi Ambly

That Catherine threw me so I'm glad you solved that. The strange thing is the date and place of birth of daughter Catherine who is given as being born in 1849 in Scotland. Was she the daughter of first wife Margaret I wonder who perhaps died in childbirth? If so why was she born in Scotland and mother died in England? That's what makes this hobby so interesting all the hows and whys!!

Thanks to you both.  All I knew about him was that he was Vicar of Coley.  Now he has emerged as a real person and no longer just a dead name.

Thanks again
