Strange coincidence. I was looking up some information on someone I work with from time to time and came across your message about someone called Brennan from Carlow.
Although I'm English and was born and bred here, my parents are both from Carlow.

Hi
Just taking a look at the 1901 census for carlow, i put in patrick brennans who were around 41 years and married to a mary, there are two, one is in graigue urban and the other is in borris. both of these are in south carlow and not to far from one another. Just to concrete the whole thing in place though, is the fact that of the 36 people who have the surname clear and live in county carlow, 21 of them lived in tinnahinch which is a stones throw across the river Barrow from Graigue.
I would say that is your question answered.
if i can be of any more help, please dont hesitate.
all the best

The message from last August did not say you have all the information you wanted which explains the posts with details after that.
To let everyone know your topic is completed please modify the title of the 1st post on your thread by adding 'completed' to the title so that we do know it is finished.

Hi Finglaspete,   just to clarify a few points.   Graigue Urban  in the Carlow census of 1901 actually refers to what is now known as Graiguecullen outside Carlow town.  The Graigue you refer to, close to Tinnahinch is actually Graignamanagh which although is just a stones throw away across the river from Tinnahinch,  is actually in Kilkenny and would have been enumerated in that county.  The Dan Brennan that Michelene posted the original request for was born and lived his life in Graiguecullen , which ironically is just across the river from Carlow but is for the most part in Co Laois.  Dan had a forge just by St Clares Church in Graigue-cullen and although the forge has now been demolished for road widening, there is a plaque on the wall commemorating the Brennan forge.  Dan was my sister-in-laws grandfather.
kind regards

Irishrose
