If you want to look at the original it can be found by searching for John Skinner born 1816, in Cornwall and wife Marianne.  They are living in Camberwell.

HO107/1581  There is no folio or page number on Ancestry.

Second one looks like Kingswood, Gloucestershire.

First one is Cornwall, but not deciphered the rest yet.

That's what I thought....tis the Cornwall one that's had me going for weeks!

Have been sat with a map scouring Cornwall for a place name that looks similar...no luck  :(

I immediately wondered if it were an attempted rendition of Gwennap

Genea****st has it as Grampound, in 1861 census.

Google Maps says that's near Truro.

My first thoughts were Gwennap too.

And there is a John Skinner Baptised there on 13th August, 1815.

By the way,

Have you noticed that daughter Belinda was actually visiting a Martin Skinner aged 55 and family in Gwennap on the 1861 census.  Seems a coincidence.  Especially as Martin also appears to have been baptised on the 4th August, 1805 to a Richard and Philippa Skinner at Gwennap.

Regards,

I think it's Gwynnap, certainly close enough to be Gwennap.
