out of interest, theres only one Susan Stock in the area in 1851 - in service to an Eleanor Barnes:-

Susan Stock 20  (unmarried) House Servant born Stow Mari(e)s


In 1841, she's with a chap who may be her Grandfather:-

1841 - HO107/327/25; Stow Maries; District: 5; Folio:  ; Page: 1

all born Essex

John Stock 60  Ag Lab
Susan Stock 10 
Caroline Stock 5 

you need to search for Parish Baptism records - may be on the IGI ...

assuming that Susan's PoB is supposed to be Foulness, I cant find her in 1851 or 1841

Susan's  pob was Stow Maries , Essex and that is where she was christened on 24 Jul 1831.
I did she the ref to a Susanna Wells in the 1861 census but discounted that due to diff   pob.
the ref to the 1851 census appears correct.

I will go ahead and purchase the marriage cert and see if that ties up.

I note you call her Susan, whereas the Marriage Index (and that census) state Susannah ..... so the marriage may well be the couple seen in the 1861 census !


Where do you have them in later years ?

Unfortunately , I have no dtls post 1851 - the marriage to George Wells 1858 registered at Maldon could be right but until I receive the marriage cert and check family dtls I cannot be sure.
