Maybe we should go to Specs Save and both get a pair - I can't find them either!

Gaye, If you trawl through IGI there are a lot of Waterfields you can check out

Thanks for that.
I have a strong WATERFIELD connection in my family tree that I really would love to extend.
My ggggrandmother Mary Waterfield b1759 is the sitter in Joseph Wright's painting
'Maria and her dog Silvio' hanging in the Derby Gallery.  I only have her father as 'Philip'
and a brother James (one of 3 partners in a Cotton Mill in Cromford) and a brother Philip.
Mary married Richard Bassano Wirksworth Parish 1780

There is another family link with Waterfield and Wright via Sarah Waterfield b 1808 on the current enquiry you have helped me with - she married Charles Wright of Derby.

I'd like a link with Thomas Waterfield b1775 ish and my Mary Waterfield's brothers!
ahhh how we wish for a crystal ball with genealogy!

Hi,

Think you will find that the Cotton Mill which Philip Waterfield of Derby was involved with was on
part of Woodeaves Farm, Tissington, Derbyshire.

Partnership was between Cooper, Matchitt & Waterfield in 1784, they had to erect the Cotton Mill within
12 months and have correct machinery.  Lease of the land was for 42 years.

The Cotton Mill at Cromford Derbyshire was built by Richard Arkwright, Jedediah Strutt & Samuel Need.
