« on: Monday 13 July 09 00:43 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone,

Managed to find my GG-GF birth cert after some help deciphering here. Can't make out Roberts Mothers details especially need maiden name & marriage place etc..

Ahem... am i correct in reading my GGG-GF was a rabbit catcher??!!! now theres a profession!!! & there was me looking for a blue linage and i got bugs nemesis!!!! ;D ;D ;D

Also struggling with Roberts Parents Marriage cert (John & Mary Kennedy) can't make out barely any of the details on this other than cross referencing the date from above birth cert (29th June 1877) could anyone help with occupations (John seems to have 2 different ones, think i can make out hedger??) addresses & maiden name of both mothers.

Thanks in advance.

Robert's mother was Mary, Maiden Surname McKillops. Marriage place, Whitecrook, Old Luce.

John was indeed a rabbit catcher.  :)

Mary Casci (?)
formerly Kennedy
M.S. Downie

Completely baffled by this. Mary Casci (possibly) formerly Kennedy. Do you think this might be because she married again?

Not sure that the mothers Maiden name is Downie. Can make out the Down___ but the last letter doesn't look like an 'e'

I'm pretty sure there's an old fashioned Z in this surname, but I can't quite make out whether the capital "C" is in fact a "G":

Mary Cazcie
m.s. Downie

Yes, that is how it would usually be shown. Could the name be a mis-spelling of Cassie? There are Cassies in that area on the 1881 census.
I think John Kennedy's place of residence is Garlisto(w)n, Sorbie, and Mary's looks to me like Hillside, Sorbie.
