« on: Wednesday 15 July 09 07:32 BST (UK) »
Seeking anyone who knows anything about the abovenamed man. I have a photograph with his name on the rear taken in Portland, Victoria during the nineteenth century (exact period unknown) but am unaware of exactly who he was. Can anyone please assist? Thanks, Rob.

I can find Garmson/Garmston/ Garmstone/Garman/Manson.

Also Edmanson/Hermanson/Heymanson/Jackmanson.

But no Garmanson mentioned in Victorian BDM records at all.
I searched Garm* as well as *manson.

I did spot Lord and Lady GORMANSTON with entourage arriving in 1893 on Provic.;D
Sue
ADDING
It does not seem to be a name in use in UK either, so perhaps he was from other parts.

There are only 2 events for the name GORMANSTON [one being for a Viscount]on freebmd uk.

So that too looks not to be a common name in England.

Hi,

A google search for Garmanson limited to Australia brigs up a few contmeporary mentions of the name including a court case.

It might be worth tryingand see if you feel it is relevent.
